关于这些国旗
第一次世界大战前、1914 年 7 月拥有自己旗帜的国家（主权国家、英国自治领，以及埃及、西藏等）及其当时的旗帜，不含殖民地。部分为近似：
- 俄罗斯帝国: The white, blue and red tricolour was the national flag from 1896; the black, yellow and white imperial flag was also used.
- 西班牙: The red and yellow flag of the time without the coat of arms (the state version carried it).
- 埃塞俄比亚帝国: The tricolour with the Lion of Judah, the imperial version; the plain tricolour was also used.
- 英属印度: British India had no national flag: this red ensign with the Star of India was the most used one (there were other versions).
- 博克多汗国: Mongolia declared independence in 1911; this is one of the flags the Bogd Khanate used, with no single official design.
- 西藏: De facto independent from 1912; the snow lion flag was settled around 1916, shortly after 1914.
- 内志酋长国: The Nejd flag of 1921 (the oldest well documented); in 1914 the emirate flew similar green banners.
