これらの国旗について
スペイン帝国が最盛期だった1600年ごろの国々と、当時の旗や軍旗です。国旗を持つ国はほとんどなく、多くは王の旗や軍旗です。当時の旗が記録されていない国（エチオピアなど）は含みません。一部は近似です：
- サアド朝モロッコ: War flag of the Marinid and Saadi dynasties (gold star on red); a white banner is also reported.
- カネム・ボルヌ帝国: A flag attributed to the empire from travellers' accounts; it may not match 1600.
- サファヴィー朝: The lion and sun on green, one of the Safavid flags; there were several versions.
- ムガル帝国: The alam, the imperial standard; the empire had no national flag.
- 明: A modern design with the character 明 (Ming): the dynasty had no national flag, and Commons marks it as fictitious. It is included so that China has its place on the map.
- 日本: The Tokugawa crest: they won Sekigahara in 1600 and founded the shogunate in 1603.
- 李氏朝鮮: The king's standard; Joseon had no national flag until 1883.
- アユタヤ王朝: The plain red of Siamese ships, the most described one; there is no official flag of the time.
- 大越: A standard attributed to the Later Lê dynasty; sources are scarce.
- アチェ王国: The sword and crescent on red, documented later; probably close to that of 1600.
