In Competitive, both players start with 600 health and, each round, whoever scores less loses the difference times a multiplier that grows every round, until someone falls. Every match moves your ELO rating: beating someone stronger earns more, losing to someone weaker costs more. Everyone starts at 1000 and your rank shows after 10 placement matches.
